So one day Amy and I are walking back to our house from the Farmers Market and I see this old dude on a Segway peering over the steep ass hill that I live on. I asked if he was going to charge it and he told me yeah but wanted to know if I wanted to try the Segway first. I said sure and hopped on it and really enjoyed it in that geek sort of way. He had arthritis and used the device to run his errands and cruise around so he didn’t have to be in a wheel chair. Anyways when I was done he pulled out his backpack to get some water and I saw this box that said ‘Boccalone‘. Being a lover of food I was instantly intrigued and asked what was in it and he said ‘I am a member of the Society’. Turns out the chef and his business partner that run my favorite restaurant Incanto started an artisinal meats company that does head to tail charcutterie. They have a Salumi Society that I joined and every two weeks I cruise to Incanto on a Saturday to pick up my stash. It is amazing food and a really cool experience and part of the ingredient acquistion process that I think defines good eating, taste and conscious living. Oh yeah and he did charge it down the hill - not as fast as the Jackass guys when they snowboarded down my hill and certainly not as fast as the teenagers that tried to replicate on a pair of skis and no bindings - but fast enough.
